One single volume from the 15-volume set detailing the contents of this massive collection. This one obviously focuses on 18th-century Italian drawings. "Most of the drawings are Venetian, and they include major works by Canaletto, Francesco Guardi, and others. Yet the collection is particularly renowned for the large number of drawings by two artists, father and son: Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (1696-1770) and Domenico Tiepolo (1727-1804). The drawings of Giambattista stem from all the major phases of his career and represent a broad range of subjects, from religious scenes -- some of them among Tiepolo's masterpieces -- to fantastic heads and caricatures." (dj) And on and on and on. The illustrated and annotated catalogue addresses 186 items. An art browser's delight.
