"This series of photographs is an expression of the female experience from the vantage point of a woman between the ages of thirty and fifty. There are many pictures of little girls, adolescents, and young women, as the experiences and relationships at those periods of a woman's life play a vital role in making her what she is in her maturity. She is constantly brought back to her sources, which are sometimes distorted, as in a dream.
The unifying themes are: the awakening of sexuality; an intuitive awareness of sexuality as both bondage and freedom, both vulnerability and assertion; the acceptance of the limitations of sexuality, which brings an enlightened freedom and a subsequent urge to participate in life's pleasure and pain.
