Bw frontis portrait of E.H. Gary, with tissue guard. [90] pp. including 34 full-page plates with tissue guards. A bit heavy at 5 pounds and will require extra postage. Clean, tight copy but with light shelf wear to covers. Ink notation to very top edge of front cover; sticker to lower spine. Art museum ex-lib. copy with bookplate and rear pocket. Signed by the donor, Lillian Henkel Haass, an art collector and patron who served as trustee and president of the Detroit Museum of Art Founders Society, was active with the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts (president 1933-1938), member of the board of the Detroit Artist’s Market, and was an active supporter of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Includes an introduction by Leslie Hyam and Shirley Falke and a list of the artists represented and their works. The works were on free view to the public at the American Art Galleries in New York City and then sold at unrestricted public sale on Friday, April 20, 1928. The sale was conducted by Messrs. Bernet and Parke. Composition, presswork, and binding by the Lent & Graff Co. Scarce. No. 392 of 500 copies.
