Text in German. Catalogue from the exhibition held from April to June 2016. The Swiss artist André Thomkins (1930-1985) began a phase of intensive work in the Zurich copper printing workshop of Peter Kneubühler in 1978 when he moved to Zurich. After his new move to Munich in 1982, he maintained his friendships during the Zurich years, until his sudden death in 1985. In this new book, Paul Tanner now provides an insight into the life and work of André Thomkins during his Zurich years. In addition to the works written during this time, he also records which people had a special significance for Thomkins: his wife, the German artist Eva Schnell, and his later companions Elisabeth Pfäfflin and Elly Förster; his friend Serge Stauffer and his pupil Christoph Gredinger as well as the writer Felix Philipp Ingold and his artist colleague Rolf Winnewisser.
