Issued in conjunction with a 1988-1989 traveling exhibition touting the artistry of American painter Frederick Emanuel Shane (1906-1992). With a lengthy illustrated essay by Henry Adams, Shane was a close friend of Thomas Hart Benton, and his works bear somewhat of a resemblance. He also was affected by Sloan. Many of these works are portraiture/genre of working class people. Nice repros. One of 2500 copies.
