The Schorr Collection is a privately held collection and one of the largest of its kind of recent formation in the UK. The collection has been built up over the last 35 years and now numbers more than 400 works. This 2-volume publication is the first time the Collection in its entirety has been seen and the first time many works have been published. The author has spent more than ten years compiling the publication. Volume I contains a biography of each artist, a small reproduction of each work, along with its full provenance and related versions, in addition to sections on drawings and watercolours. In Volume II, the works are grouped by chronology and location. Each section includes an introductory essay by Christopher Wright. The Collection ranges from 15th-century devotional images to 19th-century French Impressionist landscapes, including old masters. A lavish publication, invaluable as a reference to collecotrs, dealers, and students of European painting and drawings from the 15th to 19th centuries.
