A facsimile of the original, of which only 130 copies were printed, published in Geneva by Gerald Cramer. Miro produced these colorful woodcuts to accompany Eluard's poetry (in French), at the poet's request. The accompanying grey text volume is and introduction, in English (a first edition, by Braziller) by Anne Hyde Greet: Miro, Eluard, and Cramer: A Toute Epreuve - A Collaboration Between Artist, Poet, and Publisher. It tells of the making of the book, discusses the poetry, and comments on the blending of the poetry and Miro's illustrations. A beautifully-presented reproduction by Braziller.
