Main essay in English with a summary in Russian at back. The catalogue listings are presented first in English and later in Russian. This kind of lacquer ware decorating has been popular in Russia since the 18th century, and Fedoskino is one of the three main villages where the art is still created. The essay covers the history of Fedoskino's artists and traditions, illustrated with b/w photos of artists at work. The color plates of the actual lacquer wares are stunning, in vibrant colors, so loved in Russian culture. A beautiful book.
