Text in English. Published in celebration of the tercentenary of St. Petersburg. The Gardner Factory, begun by Francis Gardner in 1766, was the first porcelain manufactory in Russia to make wares for the aristocracy. Prior to the company's founding, the Imperial Porcelain Factory (now Lomonosov) was the only company in business, and they made porcelain solely for the imperial/royal family. Eventually, the Gardner Factory earned commissions from the Imperial Court. This stunning catalogue contains 302 items produced by the Gardner Factory in the 1700s-1800s, pictured in large, color plates. Includes an introductory essay, the catalogue, an appendix of marks, and a bibliography.
