Text in French; the Kaitag hail from a small, mountainous region in southern Daghestan. Their art included themes from Zoroastrian, Muslim, Christian, Jewish and pagan symbolism and used mostly brightly-colored silk threads and yarns for their exquisite textile works. Those covered in this volume were worked between the 1500s and 1800s. An intriguing look at stunning pieces and accompanying essay information. Exhibition catalog. The main, more extensive catalog was published in hardcover in English, but this condensed edition shows the most important pieces and information.
