Gillot was a well-known and well-connected collector in France in the late 19th and very early 20th century. When he died in 1903, there was an immense sale of his Asian and other arts held within a year (1904). In 2007, Christie's specialists were invited to an unassuming Parisian flat where they were shown another portion of Gillot's collection whichhad remained intact and untouched for more than 100 years. This catalogue represents that collection and is rich in Islamic Arts, Ancient glass and other decorative pieces, furniture, tapestries, Netsuke and other treasures. A specific and rare opportunity to view such an intact collection. A pleasure to peruse, this catalogue will be a most welcome addition to your reference library.
