The photographs were "sought and studied in the highways and byways of Italy" by Arthur Frederick Adams, "lover of terra cotta in architecture... with whose assistance they were assembled and arranged for this book." Beautiful bw photos of terra cotta architectural ornamentation throughout Italy. Obviously, heavy on examples of buildings that could afford such beautiful decor: churches, palaces, and villas.
