From the dj: A wonderful catalogue, with its many plates depicting Surrealist and Fantastic art from the 16th century on forward, with the emphasis on the 20th century. Includes essays by Alfred H. Barr, Georges Hugnet, a brief chronology of the Dada and Surrealist movements, bibliography relevant to the exhibition held at the New York Museum of Modern Art in 1936-37. The third edition has changed in a few respects. It lists only those pictures which were illustrated, rather than the entire exhibition catalogue. There are six additional color plates and a few extra black and white plates as well.
