This volume tells the story of the Bauhaus, that important German art school whose influence has spread throughout the world. Includes the background of the Bauhaus, its theory and organization, the years 1919-1925-from the first proclamation to the teachers and students, the years 1925-1928-from the Bauhaus building to administrative changes, the spread of the Bauhaus idea, and Bauhaus teaching in the U.S. First published in 1938 in conjunction with an exhibition at MOMA. Also contains index of illustrations, biographical notes, and bibliography. This is the rare first edition of a very important catalogue.
