Un-bound, covered with two separated cardboard covers formerly bound with red cloth spine, of which torn remnants remain. Oversized. Reading or binding copy. Ex-library with ink stamps next to each image, some touching its edge. Covers worn and separated, each page mounted on a slightly larger page, the edges of many are cracking, but protecting the original pages. Some cracks/tears on original pages too. "John Thompson, Jr." stamped on title page and several plates. Miscellaneous stamps and numbers here and there, not affecting plates. Item #118723.2
Photographs are of homes in India, with several close-up shots of decorative lattice-work and other ornamental design. Included are two photos of Lockwood's apartment in New York City. Missing are the advertisements at the back of the book, which appear in complete copies.
