Text is in English and in Russian. Built in 1352 by Archbishop Moses, the Church of the Assumption at Volotovo Polye was completely destroyed by German bombing during the Second World War. Presented here is a comprehensive collection of early photographs detailing the 14th century frescoes, a suite of 16 copies of the frescoes executed in the 1920’s, along with architectural plans and cross sections reconstructing the destroyed holy place. Book is house is an illustrated cardboard slipcase.
