Text in French. "Romanesque art is fashionable: our modern eye is more seduced by the imagery of Romanesque churches than by that of Gothic churches. But this preference is not always accompanied by the knowledge that would allow us to understand its meanings. By focusing on the eardrums and the portals, the authors show how the sculpted decoration is not esoteric. It has a teaching role, both theological and moral, and is also linked to liturgical rituals. (prayers, songs. readings. processions) which take place at the doors of churches. "- Jacket.
