Text is in English. "This book is a catalogue of the antiquities which in 1953-1964 were set up on display again in the Acropolis Museum after the last world war. ... [It] aims to assist the visitor who may wish to linger in front of the artworks in the museum a little longer than the person who is indifferent or even in a hurry and to be of help in eliciting the response which the works themselves deserve, to set forth the most important problems, to offer the essential information, and to give the basic bibliography. This book does not aspire to say the last word on the subject. In any event, those who have specialized studies in mind will of necessity turn back to the classic works on the subject to which the catalogue constantly refers." (preface).
