The 3-page introductory essay is a biography of and tribute to Arthur S. Dayton (1887-1948) who collected these works over 26 years. His widow established this gallery in his honor. The catalogue of the collection is arranged by room with 5 rooms of 49 paintings (and 14 not on display), 3 rooms of prints, and one room of 7 watercolors. Professional sketches are given for each artist and some European works are included. Many top-rate American artists are represented.
