This is a collection of bound, original New York Sun Newspapers. Each paper is approximately four pages. This collection begins at February 14 of 1834 and runs to December 31 1834. Collection has been hand inspected and appears to be missing the following issues: Feb, 23rd; March 2,9, 16, 23, 24, 30; April 6, 13, 20, 27; May 11, 18, 23, 25; June 1, 2, 3, 4, 15, 16, 22; July 5, 6, 13, 20, 27, 28; Aug 3. 10, 17, 23, 24; Sept 14, 21, 28; Oct 5, 12, 19, 26; Nov 2, 16, 23, 30; Dec. 8, 14, 15 (is only the first two pages), 21, 26, 28. Ex-libris plate to front pastedown lists this collection as being donated by the family of Francis Hoag, the longtime editior of The Suffolk County News. This collection also includes the very first issue of The Sun from Tuesday, September 3, 1833. This issue is heavily torn and chipped at edges with the page gutter nearly split; aged, tanned scotch tape reinforces the interior edges.
