Title page signed by Marin and inscribed to his "Old Friend" Erhard Weyhe, the renowned gallerist and bookseller. Issued in conjunction with a series of 1947 exhibitions of artwork by early American modernist John Marin (1870-1953). Includes essays by Frederick S. Wight (Pertaining To Marin's Style), and MacKinley Helm (John Marin: A Portrait). Also includes a two-page artist's statement and bibliography. The catalogue cites 19 oils, 45 watercolors, 22+ drawings, 12 etchings; and many are pictured here. What is amazing is that this exhibition was derived entirely from material by Marin that was stockpiled by Stieglitz and never offered for public sale.
