Text in Italian. "On 10 August 1994 the crypt of San Vincenzo Magiore was brought to light. This exceptionally preserved monument still served high-quality frescoes inside, including the portraits of the two builders of the great church, the abbots Giosuee Talarico. This book describes the incredible adventure undertaken by the abbot Giosue to transform San Vincenzo into a monument of European significance. The remains found in the 1994 countryside are described in detail here, showing the exceptional nature of this discovery. The authors also describe the workshops of the monastery ovelaterizi, metal, glass, enamel, ivory and bells objects were produced for the monastery's exiles. Finally, following the catastrophic sacking of 10 October 881, San Vincenzo Maggiore was restored and embellished with new frescoes, wonderful forerunners of the so-called "Cassinese renaissance" of the 11th century. With the discovery of San Vincenzo Maggiore, the Vulturnense monastery rose as a central episode for the knowledge of early medieval Europe." dust jacket translated.
