Paris and New York: Quatre Chemins-Editart / Shoman Art Company, 1948. Softcover. Tan paper wraps with glassine dust jacket, 11 text pages, followed by 10 color plates and 30 duotone plates on pages; in tan cardboard slipcase. Good (wraps tanned w/ foxing. spine edges splitting w/ tears to top. aged glue cracked & dried on interior textblock spine w/ pgs detached & laid in.). Item #173157

Text is in French. Photo is of a previous copy from our collection; this copy does NOT have the price sticker to front wrap; pictures present a fairly accurate representation. There is a nine inch tear to spine edge of glassine jacket; tear in its depth approaches title printing on front wrap. May pages remain fairly bright with some darker tanned sections. Occasional instances of foxing to plate edges, otherwise, appears to be fairly unmarred. This copy does have original slipcase. Presents 40 specific pieces of art rendered by French artist Edgar Degas (1834-1917). With an opening introduction followed by the 40 plates printed on water marked " Marais" paper. #198 of 500 copies issued by Shoman in New York, from a grand total of 1000 copies issued from both houses combined. Rare, in any condition.
