Clean inside, previous owner's bookplate (Harry C. Goebel). This copy inscribed by the collector James L. Bowles to Mr. Edgar Harding, and signed Kind Regards 1874. Item #169104

The first 31 pages are an essay on Japanese Art, and are preceded by 2 mounted photographs. Then comes a single-page essay on Modern Japanese Enamels, dated Liverpool, May 1873 signed G.A.A. Next comes an essay on the Liverpool Art Club (reprinted from the London Times of December 26, 1872) which runs from page 1 to 6. One blank sheet separates this from the next article, reprinted from Art Journal (January 1874) titled "Oriental Art in Liverpool, by Prof. T.C. Archer that runs from page 1 to 8. This is followed by "Catalogue Raisonne of The Oriental Exhibition of The Liverpool Art Club...December 1872" and edited by George Ashdown Audsley, dated 1874. This final section runs from page 1 to 163, and includes 22 mounted photographic pplates of items in this exhibition. These items are numbered on the plates, and can be referenced to the corresponding number and description in the catalogue.
