A major monograph in English about Joseph Maria Olbrich, architect, designer, educator. Olbrich first came to prominence in his native Austrian Silesia (now part of the Czech Republic) as a founding member of the Vienna Secession in 1897. He designed the Secession Gallery building in Vienna. With Josef Hoffman and Kolo Moser in Austria and other architects and designers in Germany, Olbrich developed Secession/Art Nouveau/Jugendstil art forms. Olbrich moved to Darmstadt in the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1899 as founder of the Darmstadt Artists' Colony. Born in 1867, Olbrich died in 1908. -Amazon.
