Nuova raccolta di n.50 principali vedute di Roma e Suoi Contorni Disegnate dal Vero Ed Incise in Rame, Dai Pui Rinomati Artisti Di Questa Capitale

Roma: no publisher noted. Softcover. Original publishers wprinted wraps. 50 Copper engravings on sheets measuring 15.25" x 10.75" VG, the illustrations are strong, clean and bright but the margins (away from the images) may exhibit some foxing or dampstaining. The paper is overall very clean and white where the images are, with the exception of the first plate, which has a tear extending just to the border of the plate impression (but not into the plate, text or imagery). An exceptional copy overall with light dampstaing to right cover edge. Item #165718

The captions in the plates are in Italian and French. No publisher or publication date found on the book, various printers seem to be mentioned in the plate margins. Regardless, a very nice example overall, asuitable wither for retention as a book, or a source for vivid prints for framing. The only institution holding this edition guesses the date at 1831-1899, a very broad guess, indeed! I place it very much towards the earlier portion of that range. 50 plates engraved in copper by G. Cottafavi, G. Fontana, A. Fornari, and P. Parboni. 6 other, unrelated but contemporary engravings laid in, all with some foxing.
