Yoruba Religious Carving: Pagan & Christian Sculpture in Nigeria & Dahomey

London: Geoffrey Chapman, 1967. Hardcover. Fawn cloth/boards; green title block on spine; gilt lettering. Color-illus. white dust jacket with black lettering. Map end papers. 172 pp. with 128 bw images. Good. The contents are clean and tight; completely free of extraneous marks, and very nice. The boards, however, are bowed, and there is a slight musty smell (not mildew). Dj has wear (mostly chipping) at top and fore edge, along with normal shelf wear. Still a decent copy for the information. Item #162386

Most striking is the use of primitive styles and techniques to interpret traditionally Christian themes..."
