Includes an essay about the archaeological explorations of ancient Mesopotamia, by Eva Strommenger and Rolf Stucky; a lenthy essay by the same authors on the history of ancient Mesopotamia; an essay on cuneiform writing by Francoise Bruschweiler; information about the Parthian Empire, by Denyse Homes-Fredericq; a brief essay about the Sassanid era and Islam, by Karin Adahl; and a chronology of Mesopotamia. The essays are illustrated, and the catalogue itself includes annotations for each work. With a folding, bw map at back. NOTE: This exhibition was held before the 2003 damaging and looting of the Bagdad museum, which re-opened in 2015 but from which thousands of items still are missing.
