With a foreword by the photographer. Cartier-Bresson was accompanied at all times by an interpreter but was aware of no interference in photographing whatever and wherever he pleased. "Thus, a stranger from France was permitted to use his camera in a way that no foreigner had been allowed to do since 1917." The visit to Moscow was made just a year after Stalin's death. Exquisite images of a past era and a culture somewhat enigmatic to many. Sections include The Kremlin, The Street, Industry and Construction Work, The Museums, Religion, The Agricultural Exhibition, The Subway, Sports Day, Time Off, Entertainment, and Youth.
