Once based primarily on the compilations created by Austrian scholar and artist Johann Adam Bernhard Ritter von Bartsch (1757-1821) in his 21-volume "Le Peintre Graveur." This volume addresses the work of a number of anonymous artists of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Illustrations are arranged bty subject matter or use (such as playing cards). Uncommon.
