Issued in conjunction with a 2014 auction of the famous Forster flag, a red and cream striped banner flown by Massachusetts militiaman and First Lieutenant Samuel Forster (1739/40-1794) during the American Revolutionary War. The Forster Flag is an American Revolutionary War-era silk flag comprised of a field of fine red silk, a canton of numberous stitched lengths of a differing red silk, and thirteen applied white stripes (six to the obverse and seven to the reverse). The Forster Flag has long been accompanied by a pair of tassels and an antique dress sash. [from the auction catalogue, p. 6].
