Plates I-II reproduce two pages of text and decoration; plates III-XVI are reproductions of the full-page paintings inserted as illustrations of Nizami's five poems (the Khamsah) in a sixteenth century Persian manuscript. The text includes information about the manuscript, Persian painting, Shah Tahmasp and his painters, the life of Nizami and the texts of the five poems. Each colored plate is preceded by a separate title page. A lovely collection.
