Invitation to the preview of the exhibition. The exhibition was the first major one of Nolde's works at MoMA and ran from March 6 through April 20, 1963. Included more than 200 paintings and 55 prints. The exhibition subsequently traveled to the San Francisco and Pasadena museums of art. The invitation is worded, "The president and trustees of the museum of modern art request the pleasure of your company at the contributing members' preview of the exhibition.....Emil Nolde on monday evening march 4 from 9-11:30 o'clock. tickets are required for admission. r.s.v.p. 11 west 53 street, new york 19, black tie. The cover image is a copy of Nolde's woodcut, Candle Dancers (1917), which also graced the publicity material for the exhibition.
