Two "volumes": The romance of fibers, natural and man-made, and the art of their use in decorative textiles; and An educational museum exhibition circulated by The American Federation of Arts. Both books from the circulating exhibition of June 1965 to December 1967. Three essays: Works of Art in Thread; The History of Threads - Natural Fibers and Filaments; and The History of Threads - Man-made Filaments and Chemistry (includes drawings of the chemical production process). The first "volume" also includes all kinds of bw images of textiles, knots, fibers, looms, etc. The second "volume" is the list of textiles, 971 in all, lent by museums, sponsors, and designers and weavers. The items from sponsors, designers/weavers were selected by a jury. Includes a key to the man-made fibers, manufacturers, and brief descriptions of each fiber. With a key to the fabric houses. Both volumes together illustrate the whole exhibition very well.
