Title on cover: Finds from the Excavations of J. Garstang in Meroe and F. Ll. Griffith in Kawa in the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. "An important part of the Egyptian collection in the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek consists of finds from archaeological excavations in Egypt and Sudan acquired in return for donations from the Ny Carlsberg Foundation. ... Nubia is the area of the Nile Valley south of Aswan in Egypt and the northern part of Sudan and throughout history Egypt and Nubia were connected in various ways through trade, warfare and cultural exchange. The Nubian collection consists of finds from two different excavations in Sudan. The first portion arrived at the Glyptotek from John Garstang's excavations in Meroe 1909-1912 and the second, twenty years later, from F. Ll. Griffith's activities in Kawa 1930-1931. Archival material in the form of letters, excavation notes and reports has been studied together with find publications in order to trace the original find contexts and determine how the objects were distributed."
