Entire text in Chinese. A chronology of costumes (and accessories of footwear, swords, collars, headwear, etc.), beginning with earliest examples of statuary and color drawings of the statue's garment and continuing through to the 20th century with photos of models in contemporary wear. Many original garments are pictured in photographs and some in drawings, but all show the garment design as well as the textile pattern. Included is a section of jewelry, much of it jade and coral. A section of clothing patterns, with annotations, is at the rear, along with a similar section in which parts of the costume are named. An excellent reference, if you read Chinese, edited by The Chinese Costumes Research Group under the Shanghai School of Traditional Operas. If you don't know the language, the book is so full of excellent visuals that it is beautiful to view, and you'll still be able to gain worthwhile insight into the subject.
