Volume I: 240 pp. with color frontis and 132 tipped color and bw plates (color plates tippin in); one gate-fold of four plates, all color. Volume II: subtitled "Les Marques de Sevres," has 57 pp. and has numerous bw illustrations (Sevres marks). Both volumes VG-, clean and tight with no extraneous marks, chips, tears, fraying, etc. but with a bit of age toning to page edges. Item #152681

Text in French. Covers Sevres from the eighteenth through twentieth centuries. Includes a lengthy introductory essay about Sevre in the 18th century, in 5 parts: history, technique, the works (flowers, vases, sculptures, etc.), style, and successes and consequences. A brief introduction to the works of the 19th/20th centuries follows. Plate annotations appear in the rear of the book. Volume II is dedicated to marks of the Sevre company, names of artists, decorators, etc. A valuable reference to anyone interested in Sevres.
