Volumes 1-4 of this series that explores the "vanished" country houses of Lincolnshire, England. "There are so many examples of 'vanished' country houses in Lincolnshire, by whatever criteria are adopted for their listing, that to make a selection of them is difficult. Inevitably someone's favourite example will be omitted. The examples here are houses for which the compilers have satisfactory illustrations in their own collections, and they have been deliberately chosen from as many regions of the county as possible, and from as many different styles of architecture as was possible in so small a selection." (intro, v.1) More than two dozen sites are covered across these four books, including a full volume (v. 3) for Bayons Manor, "the romantic 'mock medieval' house built by Charles Tennyson D'eyncourt, uncle of the poet Alfred Tennyson." (into, v.3).
