Twenty-page, paper booklet with string binding and black lettering; 1 large, folding over-view survey map, with general title information; 24 additional large, folding survey maps of individual areas of the Sacramento River. All housed in a board folio slipcase/box (6x2x9 inches) with black lettering and ribbon tie which is original issue from the GPO. Lettering on spine: 60th Congress 2d Session 1908-1909; House Documents Vol. 24; Examination and Survey of Sacramento River. Maps nearly as new and likely never unfolded (except to inspect them now). Booklet has age toning and a bump at head of spine but o/w clean and tight. Folio soiled with dust of the ages but has had a cursory cleaning. Contents very good indeed. Item #149974
The majority of the text in the booklet is the narrative report of the survey, by Capt. Thomas H. Jackson, Captain of the Army Corps of Engineers and the head of the team surveying the river. Additional text by other Army and War Department personnel. The #0 map shows the entire Sacramento River and the area of investigation, and also has the key map for the remaining maps.
