The Story of Ida: Epitath on An Etrurian Tomb

Orpington, Kent (England): George Allen, 1883. 94 pp. 1 engraving. Good+. Red leather with gilt embossed border, A.e.g. Item #1487

Born in Boston in 1837, this artist became a confidant of John Ruskin while she was living in Florence in 1882. The fact that he edited this book, so quickly after their first introduction, speaks of his high regard for her abilities. He shortly thereafter purchased the 122 drawings that she had prepared for Roadside Songs of Tuscany. A nice copy, except for a small piece of the spine missing from the bottom.
