Bryn Mawr, PA: Robert Edwards, 1982-1984. Limited. Softcover. 12 issues, each appx. 60 pp., some with tipped-in plates and illustrations along with printed illustrations. New old stock. Item #147869

TILLER as it exists now is comprised of twelve physical issues which define the two published volumes. The first nine issues were printed on Hahnemuhle Ingres-Buttenpapier by Henry Morris at his Bird & Bull Press. The next three were printed at The Stinehour Press and The Meriden Gravure Company. Volume I, number 1 lists 100 subscribers before publication. It is unknown how many subscribers eventually received issues, but the number does not appear to be significantly higher than this. Despite detailing the contents of the issues on his website, Roberts strangely did not offer them for sale, but rather commented upon their rarity in the rare-book marketplace. Mullen Books has acquired the remaining backstock of TILLER, including the issues and the myriad tipped-in plates that go into many (but not all) issues. Some issueswere not intended top have tipped-in illustrations. Several differences exist between the sets provided to the original subscribers and the sets I am able to offer. Robert Edwards hand colored a few of the illustrations in various issues that he sent subscribers. We have not attempted to replicate this coloring, but there is a page posted on the Mullen Books, Inc. website that illustrates the particular images that were hand colored or tinted, should this be desired. Please inquire for a detailed listing of the contents.
