The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex (2 vols.)

New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1871. Hardcover. 2 vols. Brown decorated cloth, gilt letters on spines, 845 pp. total, 76 BW illus. G+ (Two matching volumes, equally worn on edges, hinges are good, some signatures a tad loose and holding, pages are clear with only natural edge tanning, some writing or identity stamps on front flyleaves, otherwise clean.). Item #147286

The two-volume set follow-up to "Origin of Species," in which Darwin considered human evolution. "The sole object of this work is to consider, firstly, whether man, like every other species, is descended from some preexisting form; secondly, the manner of his development; and thirdly, the value of the differences between the so-called races of man." (intro) A nice set that hardly shows its age.
