Most text in Russian, but a one-page summary is included in English, and the list of illustrations is in both Russian and English. A photographic tour, with plenty of explanatory text, of the city of Velikii Ustyug, northwest of Vologda and southwest of Archangelsk. As of 1988, it is famous as being the "home" of the Russian Father Christmas. This book, however, centers on it's historic architecture and the stunning works of art of all kinds in its various museums.
