Bw postcard of Robert Mapplethorpe's cover photo to the book laid in. VG- with an unbroken but lightly soiled spine. Clean and tight otherwise, but back cover has a crease at bottom outer corner. Includes an alphabetical list of photographers and their photos by page number. Each photo titled. No other text. Amazing photos and perspective, mostly from the 1800s to mid-1900s. The only main text is a comment by Wagstaff: "This book is about pleasure, the pleasure of looking and the pleasure of seeing, like watching people dancing through an open window. They seem a little made at first, until you realize they hear the song that y ou are watching."
