George Herman Ellwanger (1848-1906) was born in Germany and settled with other members of his family in Rochester, N. Y., where they operated successful nursery and real estate businesses. This "story" of his house evidently takes a few fictional liberties, as per the habit of the day, but certainly still makes for intriguing reading. This is a copy of the third edition.
