Issued in conjunction with several 1982 exhibitions featuring the work of four of these Japanese artists: Yasuo Kuniyoshi (1893-1953), Toshi Shimizu (1887-1945), Eitaro Ishigaki (1893-1958), and Hideo Noda (1980-1939). The exhibit expanded to include artwork from some traditional American artists of the same time: Maurice Prendergast, Robert Henri, William Glackens, John Sloan, Everett Shinn, George Bellows, Kenneth Hayes Miller, Reginald Marsh, Raphael Soyer, Edward Hopper, Charles Burchfield, John Steuart Curry, Glenn O. Coleman, Stuart Davis, William Gropper, Ben Shahn, and Jack Levine. Quite an interesting catalog indeed.
