Text in French. Published in installments, as the title page specifies two deliveries a week at 1 franc per delivery. The first section details the Palais de L'Exposition, where the event was held. Subsequent sections cover generalities and statistics about the exhibition, followed by sections on specific artists and genres, beginning with Section VI. Included are Louis Gallait, Leon Cogniet, M. Courbet, M. Dekeyser, history of painging, the portrait, sculpture an much more. There are 20 plates, as issued, but two listed in the index (Nos. 16 and 17) are not included, and two different ones are. This may have been a last-minute change on the printer or publisher's part.
