Illustrated by numerous other black and white engravingss in text. G, top inch of spine missing, inch-long tear at lower front hinge, but both covers securely attached. Some rubbing of covers, corners bent slightly. Some foxing near extremities. Occasional informed notes pencilled in margin, which comment on the text, usually to disagree, providing occasionally another reference which would prove the author wrong. Bookplate inside cover.
