Good+ (Overall: Ex-library, with spine numbering/labeling, bookplates, perforation stamps on title pages and maps, cover labels "For Reference," covers have only light soiling, tops of most spines have small tears, no djs, pages are crisp and clean with slight toning, hinges are good, some pull-out maps have bent margins, v.1-4 and 16-25 have covers that are slightly different in hue from v. 5-15 but with consistent size and lettering, v.25 index volume is lone book with green repair tape over spine.). Quite scarce. Labeled "New edition." The first ed. of 9 vols. was issued in 1881, and the 2nd ed. of 1885-1887 had 24 vols. This is considered "a new work rather than a new edition," according to the editors. This near-complete set is in terrific shape and is missing just the final atlas volume. Contents: I.
