VG- (relatively new library portfolio in VG condition. the edges of the plate pages are a bit worn with rounding at the corners. the last two pages have more chipping/edgewear/small tears, but the image itself is unaffected. the last has an ink stamp on the reverse). Finnish and Siberian ornamentation, featuring the work of various ethnic groups (including Yakut, Lapp and Eskimo) in the Russian-governed areas of Europe and Asia, presented at the Pavilion of the USSR, at l'Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs (Paris, 1925). Included are several examples of clothing and accessories done with exquisite beadwork and embroidery. Wool and fur are the common fabrics, with some leather (especially fringes), silk and felt. Colors primarily are turquoise and red with some yellow, green, etc. Coats, tunics, head wear, jewelry, pouches, wall hangings, tent/yurt decorations. Stunning, indigenous art that functioned as every-day needs.
